In the colorful picture book Van Arthur voor Zeb, author-illustrator Vincent X. Kirsch tells a story about friendship and love in a subtle and heartwarming way. What makes this book special is the casual way in which that love, which happens to be between two boys, is portrayed for children as young as 5 years old.
Arthur is on Zeb and Zeb is on Arthur – everyone said it was. But they dare not say it out loud themselves. They spend every minute together, walking to school, doing homework, learning to ride a bike and much more.
Arthur tries to write Zeb a letter to tell him how he feels. But the words never sound right, no matter how many times he rewrites the letter. So he hides them all. One by one, Arthur's friends find the letters… and they know exactly who they are for.
This picture book, translated by author and poet Pim Lammers, is ideal for conversations with children about friendship, LGBTQ+ love and diversity.
“A heartwarming, most adorable story of friendship – and much more.” Booklist
